Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
