Shock as Beloved South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.

A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country battling rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the forty-year-old entertainer was confronted by three individuals, one of whom shot at him before fleeing on foot.

The reason of the attack remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, as per the official statement.

Details of the Attack

Law enforcement revealed that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a building close to the city center landmark.

He had spent several hours at the property overseeing the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unknown people, as per local media.

"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," an official report confirmed.

Surveillance tape reportedly captured a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what appeared to be a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before running away.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but fell down on the opposite side of the road.

Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the attack.

Key evidence, like spent shells, were found at the scene.

Officials are asking anyone who saw the event who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.

"Evidence suggests they traveled on foot after the attack, and police have been tracking them to determine their whereabouts," added an official.
