Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities are urging individuals with information to get in touch with the investigating team.
